| it seems necessary that i should disclose a matter of importance to you who (obviously) are reading this.
i don't blog here anymore. i do it on my REAL website, garrettw.net ... so ... yah. you can click my logo up there if you want - it will take you there.
| yes, i got an mp3 player!!!!!joy!!!!! 'tis called a Cowon iAudio X5 (20gb). 'tis a beautiful thing in every way.

it has come to my attention that the correct term for my device is a DAP, or digital audio player, i think. but honestly, i'm not gonna go around saying "i got a new dap!!" cuz ppl will be like "huh? a what?". nobody calls it a "DAP", i mean come on!
ANYWAY, this thing hasn't actually come in yet - just ordered it today. but check it out - the player itself was only $140. however, you can't really get such a device without throwing in some accessories, can you? well, my bundle of accessories threw in an extra $80. but hey, still, $220 isn't bad for a 20gb device! (disclaimer: the reason i got it so cheap is that it's an open-box/refurbished model. brand new ones start at $240, unfortunately.)
if you want one like mine, as of this writing they have 28 left. or, if you'd prefer the 30gb model, it's $180, and there are 15 left.
and one more thing. the really cool part is that there is an entire community of iAudio enthusiasts at iAudiophile.net . i've already joined their forums. w00t.
| hi and thanks for joining me today. how would you describe a 2-day spring break getaway to dallas to someone who hasn't been in years, even though it's only a couple of hours away? well, i'd start with unusual but fun. yes, there were moments that made me realize that we don't get out enough, but i suppose that just made it that much more fun (or funny, as the case may be). it all started when we arrived in dallas. our first destination was to be some kind of railroad museum in fair park. we got to fair park, and i could tell my dad was getting really confused as to where to go once we got in there. we finally got out, and assumed that our building was the large one near the old train cars. well, that one turned out to be the empty Centennial Hall. so my dad asked some guy that was standing around talking on his cell phone for directions, so then we had it halfway figured out. i'll spare you the details, but once we figured it all out, we discovered that this museum wasn't even open for the day. so then we got in the car and started driving (to where, i dunno). we ended up driving through the Deep Ellum area, which ... was interesting. we stopped at a subway in there, and while we were there, this panhandler who was more or less harassing people trying to come in to eat got the cops called on him and got arrested. so that was interesting.
since i'm getting tired of typing, i might tell you more ... tomorrow.
And I'm Garrett, reporting live for KGLW News.
| ok well if you read this let me know. seems like maybe nobody still checks in on the halfway-awesomeness that is xanga.
anyway, i'm having a problem. thing is, i know what the solutions are, but they aren't quite that easy to put into practice. i'm pretty sure that whatever my problem, it would be solved by (1) less time spent on the computer, and (2) getting a full 8 hours in every night. but i won't be the first to tell you that habits are hard to break. so at this point i'm pretty clueless as to the implementation of said solutions.
bottom line is i guess i need some sort of help.
| "If you are my friend, if you are concerned about my soul, give me the truth.
"Do not flatter me. Do not praise my virtues while remaining silent about my vices. Do
not fear the truth will offend me.
"Do not treasure our friendship or our friendly relations above my salvation. Do not
think that by ignoring my sins, you can help me. Do not think that by being blind to my
sins, you prove yourself charitable.
"However I may react to it, whatever may be my attitude toward you after you have done
it, give me the truth! For the truth, and only the truth, can make me free from the
shackles of sin, strengthen me in the pathway of righteousness, and lead me to the joys
of heaven.
"If I am wavering, weak, lukewarm, indifferent, neglectful -- if I have been overtaken in
a trespass -- if I have been drawn into the pleasures of this world -- if I have left my
first love -- if I have been led astray by error -- or if I have done none of these, but
simply need to grow in knowledge and be edified -- give me the truth."
